Bruce Joel Rubin is an Academy Award winning screenwriter. His film GHOST won an
Oscar for best original screenplay in 1990. His other films include JACOB'S LADDER,
MY LIFE, DEEP IMPACT, STUART LITTLE 2, THE LAST MIMZY, and THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE.
Bruce resides in Los Angeles with his wife Blanche and two dogs and also has a home
in upstate New York (near Rhinebeck) where he spends half the year. He has two grown
sons, Joshua and Ari, both filmmakers and wise souls.
Meditation classes are ongoing in Los Angeles but are taught in New York only when
Bruce and Blanche are in town.
Bruce believes that meditation, any meditation, is essential to human happiness
and spiritual well being, and encourages everyone to find a practice that not only
inspires them but also challenges them to grow. He then recommends that they do
it for thirty minutes a day, every day, whether they feel like it or not, ideally,
for the rest of their lives.
Bruce believes very deeply in the practice he has been doing for the past 40 years
or, as he says, he would not still be doing it. He was attracted to Rudi's work
because it showed him that you did not have to leave the world to have a spiritual
life. If anything, Rudi taught that this world is your spiritual life, and that
the goal of this existence is to find happiness and fulfillment within it. This
site is dedicated to all those in pursuit of that goal.
